INTRODUCTION
The UKM Air Quality and Atmospheric Science Research Group, based at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, is a multidisciplinary research team dedicated to advancing knowledge in air quality, atmospheric science, and environmental health. The group focuses on addressing pressing air pollution challenges in Malaysia and Southeast Asia, integrating scientific excellence with policy-relevant and societally impactful outcomes.
The group brings together researchers from diverse academic backgrounds to conduct cutting-edge studies in air quality assessment, atmospheric chemistry, atmospheric modelling, and the impacts of air pollutants on human health. Through an integrated approach combining field measurements, laboratory analysis, and advanced modelling techniques, the group aims to generate robust scientific evidence to support environmental management and public health protection.
Members of the research group are affiliated with several faculties and institutes within UKM, including the Faculty of Science and Technology, Faculty of Health Sciences, the Institute of Climate Change (IPI), and the Institute for Environment and Development (LESTARI). This multidisciplinary structure strengthens the group’s capacity to address complex air quality issues from both scientific and policy perspectives.
